Located in what was once a fire station, Station 2 serves up a wide selection of made to order burgers presented in creative ways with the side of your choice. They also offer salads (for those inclined) and an extensive list of starters that many would consider meals all by themselves.
I had “The Fungky”, which was/is the burger of the month for January. It comes with your choice of beef, turkey, chicken breast, black bean, or edamame and is topped with locally grown sautéed mushrooms, crispy onion straws, bleu cheese, and a truffle aioli. Add in the side of your choice (I chose the sweet potato tots) and you have a delicious, juicy, filling meal.
I found the mild, “char flavor” of the beef combined with the tangy bleu cheese and juicy mushrooms, complimented by the crunch of the onion straws, made for one of the better burger experiences I have had in some time.
If you’re anywhere near the Shockoe Bottom section of downtown Richmond, give they a try. You’ll be happy you did!
